About us

How REEDOME began

It all began with a dream of creating a conscious community – a settlement of like-minded people in Dragūniškės.

At the first Dragūniškės work day, one of our community asked: what if a dome could be thatched with reed? In that moment I saw it – a dome in nature, wrapped in reed. I thought of the ancient Balts and their traditions, of the reed roofs that have stood in Lithuania for generations. And I fell in love with that image.

I went looking and found a few such domes. They had been thatched by Gytis and his company, Nendriniai stogai. Sadly, all of them were built for business and conferences, not for living. But the sight of a reed-thatched dome in nature stayed with me.

That is how the decision was made to build reed-thatched dome homes in Dragūniškės. We started with the first ones. Having met Gytis, become friends and invested in Dragūniškės together, we decided to join forces.

Now we create this beauty for others too – for everyone who wants to live in nature, in the home of the future, today. We have begun. And we walk towards it together.

Founder of Dragūniškės, a conscious community of dome homes; author and visionary. 17 years of experience in real estate development.

Co-founder, master thatcher

Gytis Petravičius

For 11 years he has led the company Nendriniai stogai, laying reed roofs in Lithuania, Scandinavia and across Europe – meticulously, with a true craftsman's sense of responsibility.
